Dal Pakwan is one of the most famous Sindhi breakfast recipes. Dal Pakwan is, chana dal served with crisp fried Indian bread(Pakwan). It is usually taken as breakfast but you can have this as a snack, as a brunch, as a lunch or as a light dinner too.

Dal Pakwan

This Dal recipe is no onion no garlic recipe. I have pressure cook the Dal , but you can also cook dal in the pan. The Dal should not be cooked too mushy. This Chana Dal can also be had with Chapatti or rice.

Dal Pakwan

Pakwan is a deep fried, crisp, flat prepared usually prepared with all purpose flour and whole wheat flour. But I make it with whole wheat flour and Sooji. You can use all purpose flour with sooji to make the dough. It is important that you make fork impressions on the pakwan so that it won’t puff up like Puri and will remain flat and crisp. You can have this Pakwan with tea or coffee.

Dal Pakwan is hard to resist and addictively good. This recipe is pretty straightforward and simple to make. It’s perfect for a weekend brunch as its quite filling and heavy on stomach.
