Fresas con Crema, or Strawberries and Cream, is a popular traditional Mexican no-bake dessert that uses 5 simple and easy-to-find ingredients. It is creamy and takes just a few minutes to throw together.

The creaminess comes from its sauce which is made by combining sour cream with evaporated milk, heavy cream, sweetened condensed milk, and vanilla.

Then fresh strawberries are added in a creamy sauce and served in a cup, with a spoon.

This recipe is easy to customize to make it just how you like! If you like creamy, add more sour cream, if you like more strawberries, add more strawberries. Plus you can adjust sweetness according to your liking.

  • Sour cream – This gives the body to the sauce.

  • Condensed milk – Gives sweetness and creaminess to this dish.
  • Vanilla Extract – Infuses this dessert with a light hint of vanilla flavor.

How to make Fresas con Crema?

  • Dice the strawberries into small pieces. Keep it aside.
  • Take the sour cream, evaporated milk, sweetened condensed milk, and vanilla to a mixing bowl. Whisk until everything is well combined.
  • Now add diced strawberries into the creamy sauce and stir until strawberries are mixed with cream.
  • Cover the bowl and place these strawberries and cream in the fridge for at least 30 minutes.

For vegan or dairy-free strawberries and cream, use full-fat coconut milk.

How can we store this?

This strawberry dessert can be stored in the fridge for up to 24 hours in an airtight container. Strawberries contain lots of water, so I don’t recommend freezing them. Plus it also losses its texture.

Can we use other berries to make this no-bake dessert?

Sure you can. Add your favorite berries to the mix including raspberries, blueberries, or blackberries. You can use mango, peach, kiwi, or grapes too. Or use a combination of these fruits.

Is This a Make-Ahead Dessert?

Yes! Strawberries and Cream Dessert can be made 24 hours before the event. You can make cream sauce two days in advance. Mix the strawberries right before serving.

How to make this dessert lighter?

Instead of full-fat sour cream, you could also use light or nonfat sour cream, or plain Greek yogurt. Instead of evaporated milk, you could use whole milk or half-and-half.

  • 1 Lb Strawberries washed and hulled
  • 1 cup condensed milk
  • 2 cups sour cream
  • ½ cup Evaporated milk
  • 2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup Unsweetened whipped cream for garnishing optional
  • Mint leaves for garnishing
