Hummus is a an Arabic word meaning “chikpeas”. Hummus is Levantine food made from cooked and mashed chickpeas blended with tahini, olive oil, lemon juice, salt and garlic. Today, it is popular throughout the Middle East, North Africa and Middle Eastern cuisine around the globe.
This recipe will make around 2 1/2 cup hummus.
Boiled chickpeas/Garbanzo beans – 2 cup
Garlic – 2 cloves
Salt to taste
Lemon juice – 4 tbsp
Tahini – 1/3 cup OR Sesame seeds – 3 tbsp
Extra-virgin Olive oil – 1/4 cup, plus extra for serving
Chili powder and Olives for garnishing
1. Take Boiled chickpeas in a bowl. Add lemon juice, salt, garlic and tahini or sesame seeds
2. Blend it in blender or food processer very well. With the processer running drizzle in the olive oil.
3. Take it out in a serving bowl.
4. Drizzle olive oil on top. Sprinkle chili powder and garnish it with olives.
Serve Hummus with Pita bread or chips as a dip or with Falafel.
