Every year, I eagerly look forward to the most joyful time of the year. Both Christmas and Diwali hold a special place in my heart. These festivals are full of lights, hope, love, excitement, and cherished memories. I can’t get enough of these celebrations.
During festivities, food memories play a vital role in celebration. Cooking favorite dishes enhances the joy of the holiday season, including drinks, appetizers, dinner, and unique desserts.
As a food lover, I revel in the culinary traditions of these occasions. As the holiday draws near, my soul swirls, urging me to prepare some of my favorite fusion and traditional dishes!
It is so fun to spruce up something fabulous with festive ingredients.
And this holiday, ice cubes are one of them. They are easy and fun to make and make a lovely addition to beverages by adding color and texture. It’s pleasing to the eye as well as the palate.
These cubes can be assembled quickly and well in advance, leaving guests impressed with your attention to detail.
To make these Infused Ice cubes, you only need an ice cube tray, boiled water, some fresh fruit, berries, and herbs of your choice.
Feel free to customize this recipe by adding your favorite fruits to create the perfect ice for your drinks. You can even choose multiple combinations to make a more extensive selection for your guests.
It is important to use distilled or boiled water while making infused ice to avoid cloudy ice.
Avoid Cloudy Ice
To impress your guests with less cloudy ice, use boiled or distilled water before freezing it. Water containing air bubbles creates foggy ice, which isn’t visually appealing. Boiling the water beforehand removes the air bubbles and prevents the ice from becoming cloudy. This will give your drink a professional touch that your guests will appreciate.
The shape and size of the ice also make a difference. The larger the cubes, the slower the melt time.
Ingredients required for festive ice cubes
I wanted to use ingredients that are festive but easy to find. Cranberries and oranges are the perfect additive, as they are colorful. I added two green ingredients, rosemary, and mint, to the red and orange hue. I have also added fresh edible flowers.
Step-by-step process
- Boil the water in a pot. Let it cool to room temperature.
- Wash your cranberries, oranges, rosemary, mint and flowers. I highly recommend you shop and use organic produce for making these infused ice cubes.
- Then, slice the oranges into small slices (the slices should fit into the ice cubes).
- Add the rosemary, cranberry, orange slice, mint and flowers to the bottom of the ice cube tray.
- Fill the ice cube with boiled water. Place the ice cube trays into the freezer for 4 to 5 hours.
- If you want to make more, remove the ice cubes from the tray and store them in a freezer bag or container.
- Holiday Ice cubes are ready. Use it in your favorite drinks, club soda, or juice.
Variations
- The possibilities for ingredient choices are endless. You can include your favorite fruits and herbs that complement the cocktail, mocktail, or punch you’re serving.
- Experiment with fruits like pomegranate, apples, pears, raspberries, strawberries, or blueberries.
- Additionally, you can use lemon, grapefruit, and lime in your drinks.
- Fresh herbs like basil, sage, cilantro, lemon balm, and thyme would also make excellent choices to add flavor to your drinks.
- Instead of water, use orange juice, cranberry juice, grape juice, or apple juice to make ice cubes.
