Fajeto / Mango Kadhi
One of the most famous dishes done during summer in every Gujarati home is called Fajeto. It is basically Mango Kadhi made with Mango puree and Chickpea Flour with some Spices.

Servings 4 people
- 1 1/2 cup Curd / yogurt (Sour)
- 4 cup Water
- 2 tbsp Besan / chickpea flour
- Salt to taste
- 1 cup Mango puree
- Pinch of Hing
- Pinch of Chili powder
- 1 inch Cinnamon sticks
- Green chili chopped
- 2 tbsp Ghee / clarified butter
- 2 tsp Cumin seeds
- 2 Red dried chilies
- 1 tbsp Jaggery Optional
- Cilantro for Garnishing
In a big Mixing bowl, take curd and besan. Whisk well. Add 1 cup of water and prepare lump-free mixture.
In a pan, heat ghee. Add cinnamon, clove, red dried chilies, cumin seeds, and hing. Saute them for few seconds.
Add prepared curd mixture. Mix well.
Now add mango pulp, 3 cups of water and salt. Stir well.
Let it boil for 5 minutes. Add a pinch of chili powder, green chopped chilies, and jaggery. Mix very well. Let it boil for another 10 minutes over medium heat. Add some more water if needed.
And Fajeto is ready. That simple!! Garnish it with cilantro and serve it with hot White rice.
- Use Jaggery according to the sweetness of mango puree.
- Use sour curd for the best taste.
