A Flautas is a Mexican food dish most often consisting of a small rolled-up tortilla and some type of filling. The filled tortilla is crisp-fried. The dish is often served with salsa, guacamole, sour cream or with Queso. They are easy and delicious. You can fill tortilla with your choice of stuffing. You can bake them also instead of frying.
Flour Tortilla – 5
Boiled Black beans or Pinto beans or Rajma – 1 cup
Mexican cheese – 3/4 cup
Taco seasoning – 1 tbsp
salt to taste
Oil for frying
All purpose flour – 2 tbsp
1. Take all purpose flour in a small bowl. Add 1 1/2 tbsp water and make a thick paste and keep it aside.
2. Take boiled beans in a bowl. Mash them very well. Make sure Beans has some water. Add salt and taco seasoning. Mix them well.
3. Lay a tortilla on a work surface. Spoon about 2 tbsp of the mixture in the middle of the tortilla. Be careful not to use too much. Add 1 tbsp of cheese. If you want spicy, add chopped Jalapenos at this point. Fold over from the left side and right side. Tightly roll the tortilla from the bottom. At the end of tortilla apply all purpose flour paste and seal it very well. Insert toothpick to seal the tortilla properly.
4. Heat oil in a pan. Fry the Flautas over medium heat until golden brown and crisp. Take it out into the paper towel. If you want to bake it, preheat the oven @400 degree F. Brush Flautas with butter or Oil. Bake them for 15 to 20 minutes or until golden brown and crisp.
