5 tips to have a Stress Free School Night Halloween
Halloween is a fun-filled holiday for kids and it’s the first major holiday of the school year. The fun things which I love the most about Halloween are you get to dress up as your favorite superhero or character and those piles of utterly delicious candy, decors, and those arguments. 😉
With all the fun, I am also worried about school the next day.
For us, parents, If it falls on the school nights, it is more like the horror movie. Hahaha…
If I can control the calendar, I would change the Halloween date, 31st October, and make it to last Friday of October every year, regardless of the date. It’s actually a perfect way to celebrate Halloween because you don’t need to worry about school the next day. Hahaha……
But we don’t have any option as we have to deal with Halloween falling on weeknights most of the time. Sigh….
If you are like me, who is stressing out for Halloween and school night, I came up with few tips on how to have a stress free school night Halloween.
1. Set the expectations
Talk to your kids about costumes, makeup, and candy. Decide what time does trick-or-treating start? How much candy and chocolates will they be able to eat? And also inform them that you need to behave like any other school night day.
Inform them if you are late next day what consequences you ‘ll face in the school. Late stamp, probably will miss the notes and what not.
This way you can limit the time they can spend trick or treating.
2. Get your Homework Done As soon as possible.
Inform kids that as soon as you come back from school, finish your snacks and start working on your homework. Make a deal with them that No homework means no trick-or-treating. You’ll be amazed how they will finish their homework in no time. 🙂
3. Serve them their favorite dinner, A fuss-free dinner.
Kids love pizza and who doesn’t, right!! It is that one meal you don’t have to force them to eat and they will finish it on time, I should say they will finish their dinner before time. 🙂
Kids don’t argue when we offer pizza for dinner. I like to fill my son’s tummy with pizza before he has a chance to consume candy. 😉
On Halloween night we don’t get time to cook from scratch. I don’t like to miss the dinner before heading out for trick-or-treating. I prefer something quick Like Red Baron Pizza before we head out.

5. Organize for the next morning
As soon as they come home from trick or treating, ask them to pack the backpacks and get your clothes ready for next day morning. This way they can get a few extra minutes of rest in the morning.
